What exactly is Argentium Silver? Is it better than Sterling Silver?

So, Argentium Silver is a relatively new type of silver invented in 1990 by Peter Jones in Middlesex – and this is pretty special invention as far as metals go.

Here are some facts about why Argentium is a superior type of silver:

  • Argentium silver is a recent development of the sterling silver alloy, made with pure silver, copper and the addition of metalloid germanium.

  • Argentium is harder than sterling silver and has a natural shiny tone and bright appearance that outshines platinum, white gold, palladium, rhodium and traditional Sterling silver.

  • Jewellery pieces made from Argentium silver are harder, stronger, and more durable than sterling silver.

  • Argentium has a higher resistance to tarnishing and is more resistant to scratches and dents, so it’s the perfect metal for jewellery that is going to be worn daily.

  • Argentium silver is great for people with sensitive skin. It has less copper in the surface and no nickel content, resulting in hypoallergenic and anti-bacterial properties.
